Tasneem currently holds the position of the Chairperson of the Environmental Club from 2018 to 2019. She volunteered her time in various environmental activities organised by Taman Jurong Community Club, such as the Taman Jurong Annual Recycling Project in 2018, dengue prevention programmes and Terrarium Making Workshops for the nearby PCF Taman Jurong Block 352 kindergarten.
Apart from leading the Club’s activities, Tasneem was also keen in taking part in various environmental projects and competitions such as the Youth Celebrate Sustainability Carnival organised by Gardens by the Bay in 2017. She was able to lead a team that managed to secure a finalist spot in the Carnival.
Tasneem was also part of the team that was able to clinch a finalist spot in the Shell The Bright Idea Challenge in 2018. Using her knowledge from the school’s Applied Learning Programme of Marine Robotics, she and her team came up with a prototype of an engine that uses compressed air instead of fossil fuels. Tasneem also has an interest in the outdoors, participating in the Tyersall Learning Forest Programme organised by the National Parks Board in 2017. Working closely with the NParks personnel, she participated in the opening of the Tyersall Learning Forest in 2017 and served as a guide for the opening and the fringe activities of the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden in 2017.
For her outstanding leadership and contributions to the environment, Tasneem Haifa Bte Rizal is awarded the 2018 HSBC/NYAA Youth Environmental Award (Merit).
